Master Programme on Human Rights Laws (master's - 2 years) - Batch 2011-2013

Introduction

The Master Programme on Human Rights Laws at School of Law of Vietnam National University Hanoi is the first master programme on Human Rights in Vietnam. The programme is managed by School of Law under the approval and regulation of VNU. The programme receives the technical and financial support of Norwegian Center for Human Rights of University Of Oslo (Norway) for the first two batches until 2014.

This Master Programme aims to provide students a solid basis for understanding the global and regional human rights systems as well as providing a basic political and philosophical understanding of human rights in Vietnam. In addition, the master programme provides students with the research methods for writing a Master’s thesis.

Structure and accomplishment

During the first year, students are required to follow three mandatory courses as required by National University Hanoi as follows;

• Phylosophy - Triết học
• Basic English - Tiếng Anh Chung
• Advanced English - Tiếng Anh chuyên ngành

During Semester I, students are required to attend  three mandatory law courses;

• CAL 6001:  History and Political Philosophy of Human Rights in the World State and Law [1] - Triết học, Chính trị về Quyền con người và sự phát triển của tư tưởng về quyền con người trong lịch sử nhà nước và pháp luật thế giới
• CAL 6002: International human Rights Norms and Standards [2] - Các nguyên tắc và tiêu chuẩn quốc tế về Quyền con người
• CAL 6003: International Human Rights Laws for Vulnerable Groups [3] - Pháp luật quốc tế về quyền con người của các nhóm dễ bị tổn thương

During Semester II, students are required to attend four mandatory courses:

• CAL 6004: International Mechanism for Protection and Promotion of Human Rights [4] - Cơ chế quốc tế bảo vệ và thúc đẩy quyền con người
• CAL 6005:  Thoughts of Humanity and Human Rights in History of State and Laws and Human Rights philosophy and Human Rights Culture in Vietnam [5] - Tư tưởng nhân đạo, nhân quyền trong lịch sử nhà nước pháp luật và vấn đề văn hóa, triết lý nhân quyền ở Việt Nam
• CAL 6006: Viewpoints, Policies of the Communist Party and the State of Vietnam on Protection and promotion of human rights under Rule of law [6] - Quan điểm, chính sách và định hướng của Đảng và Nhà nước Việt Nam về bảo vệ, thúc đẩy quyền con người trong xây dựng nhà nước pháp quyền
• CAL 6007: Laws and Mechanism for Protection and Promotion of Human Rights in Vietnam [7] - Pháp luật và cơ chế bảo vệ và thúc đẩy nhân quyền ở Việt Nam

The elective courses offered by the Programme as the followings. Students should choose two elective courses.

• CAL 6008:   Human rights in the relationship with some other branches of international laws [8] - Quyền con người trong mối quan hệ với một số ngành luật khác  
• CAL 6009:   Human Rights and Social Development [9] - Quyền con người và phát triển xã hội  
• CAL 6010: Regional human rights laws and mechanisms [10] - Pháp luật và cơ chế khu vực  về quyền con người
• CAL 6011: National human rights laws and mechanisms [11] - Pháp luật và cơ chế quốc gia về quyền con người
• Research Methodology – Phương pháp Nghiên cứu trong lĩnh vực quyền con người. [12]
